DOM2Prompt is a Chrome extension for frontend developers. It helps users capture selected page elements and convert them into source-oriented prompts that can be pasted into an AI coding assistant.
DOM2Prompt does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal information. The extension does not send captured page content, selected elements, browsing history, prompts, or settings to any external server.
DOM2Prompt needs access to the current web page so it can inspect DOM elements selected by the user. This access is used only to generate local prompt content inside the extension side panel.
DOM2Prompt may store extension settings and optional capture history using Chrome storage APIs. This data remains in the user's browser environment and is not uploaded by DOM2Prompt.
DOM2Prompt uses the following permissions:
sidePanel: to display the extension interface.storage: to save settings and optional local history.tabs: to identify the active tab for side panel communication.scripting: to inject the content script when needed.<all_urls>: to allow element capture on regular web pages selected by the user.DOM2Prompt does not include analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or any third-party data collection service.
Users can clear capture history from the extension's history panel. Users can also remove the extension at any time from Chrome's extension management page.
